Jimmy Fallon Surprises Zoey Deutch with Unseen Cut Footage of Her in Amazing Spider-Man

Zoey Deutch was in for a surprise after Jimmy Fallon was able to obtain unseen footage of her only scene in the 2012 Marvel film The Amazing Spider-Man.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fall on Thursday, the 27-year-old Not Okay actress opened up about the cameo she nabbed in the superhero film as a teenager.
"I played 'Girl in the bathroom attacked by the lizard that came out of the toilet.' I'm sure you all saw me in it, right? ... I had no lines," she explained.
"I was so excited and for some reason they used that scene as a teaser at Comic-Con and people thought I had a big part and kept saying to me, 'Oh my god, you're the star of the amazing ones Spider-Man, I didn't know.' And I said, 'Neither have I.' But I went to the cinema and was cut out of the film. So it doesn't really have a happy ending."
Luckily, Fallon, 47, told her he got the clip thanks to his "friends in high places." Deutch was obviously quite surprised when he played it to her and the audience.
After the clip was shown, Deutch jokingly said, "Wow, that was interesting. CGI has gotten a lot better in the last decade. And I hope my acting does too.”

Her abridged appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man wouldn't be the only missed opportunity Deutch would face and recover from.
On the Lights, Camera, Barstool podcast, Deutch spoke about auditioning for the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, which famously went to Jennifer Lawrence, and said it was the role she was most disappointed in, missing out on to have.
"I screen tested Katniss but I knew I didn't get it because on the screen test he said, 'Why don't you read that other part?'" she said, laughing. "Literally. But yeah, that was a bit painful.”
Deutch also recalled being onstage at a recent awards ceremony where she presented an award for Best Limited Series, "and for every single one that was nominated, I auditioned [for] and didn't get it."

"During the pandemic, there were only about four projects I auditioned for that I really wanted. And with all four, I was like, 'And the award goes to...'" the Set It Up actress said.
"I was going to say, 'And the prize isn't [me]. Don't worry, if you lose, I lose too. I didn't get any of those parts!' ' added Deut.
During her segment with Fallon, Deutch, whose mother is actress Lea Thompson, revealed she always knew she wanted to be an actress, sharing her own clip of herself and her mother. Her mother was interviewed 20 years ago and when she was asked if her daughter would like to follow in her footsteps, a young German woman answered the question.

"I really want to be an actress," she said.
"Oh, this is the first time I'm hearing about it," Thompson replied. "Because you see it's so glamorous?" she teasingly asked her daughter as she happened to be teased during the segment.
"No," Deutch said, smiling. "Well, that's part of it."
