Johnny Depp's ex-neighbor said Depp entered his home the night the actor allegedly assaulted Heard.
Josh Drew said Depp smashed a wine bottle and "screamed, cursed, spat in my face".
Drew was formerly married to Heard's girlfriend, Raquel Pennington.
One of Johnny Depp's former neighbors testified that the actor screamed and spat in his face the night Depp allegedly assaulted Amber Heard in May 2016.
According to a November 2019 pre-recorded statement played back Wednesday during Depp v. Heard's defamation trial, Josh Drew said Depp stormed into his apartment after banging a wine bottle on the door.
Drew was formerly married to Heard's girlfriend, Raquel Pennington. They lived in one of the penthouses in the same building in Los Angeles as the former celebrity couple.
"He walked in, caught my eye immediately and ran straight at me, yelled, cursed and spat in my face," Drew said.
"I calmly went to leave, realizing I had forgotten my keys and dog, so I went back to turn around to get both. He stayed and followed me, pacing, yelling, cursing and spitting in my face,” Drew continued.
Depp "came close enough to be aggressive," he added.
One of Depp's attorneys previously accused Heard and Pennington of fighting at the home on May 21, 2016 to make it appear as if Depp had vandalized property, which Pennington has denied.
Drew testified Wednesday that he showed officers the damage, including a dent in the door "shaped like the bottom of a wine bottle."
He also said he later found Pennington and Heard nearby. "Amber was like catatonic," Drew said. "Like a ghost."
The incident happened two days before Heard filed for divorce and six days before she filed for a domestic violence restraining order.
Depp is suing Heard, accusing her of ruining his career and reputation by opining that he made her a victim of domestic violence. The defamation lawsuit seeks $50 million in damages.
