Josh Rosen has a two-week audition for 2021 with the 49ers

Quarterback Josh Rosen opted for stability at Tampa Bay after being cut by the Dolphins. Now Rosen has chosen a chance to audition for a possible job in 2021.
The 49ers' quarterback position has ended up in short-term chaos, with only one healthy quarterback on the roster. Accepting a spot on the roster gives Rosen the opportunity to impress coach Kyle Shanahan - along with a possible job on the team next season.
Rosen turned down several other opportunities to leave Tampa's practice group for a 53-man squad, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. In Rosen's opinion, the San Francisco offer was the right one to accept.
Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard will become free agents in March. Jimmy Garoppolo could be gone. While it's a stretch to believe that Rosen would begin, it could earn a spot on the depth map. If Garoppolo stays there is a good chance he will get injured again so the backup has a chance to play.
Rosen has had a tough ride since 2018 but is only 23 years old. There is a lot of football ahead of him when he finds a place to develop and grow.
San Francisco may be playing for Rosen if he immediately realizes that his best move is to study the offense carefully and play the games exactly the way coach Kyle Shanahan wants them to, without freelancing or deviant or anything other Follow the given path for the O's when facing the X's.
