With Kamala Harris on the Democratic presidential ticket as Joe Biden's runmate, there is renewed interest in her political record and personal life. Curiosity is particularly high regarding her husband Douglas Emhoff, who could become the first second gentleman if the Biden Harris campaign is elected to the White House next November.
Emhoff was keen to show his excitement after Biden's announcement. He tweeted, "America, let's do this!" with a photo of Biden and Harris smiling at each other.
He also shared a warm exchange with Dr. Jill Biden, who could be our next first lady. "Ready to work! Let's go @DrBiden!" he wrote.
Below we've rounded up some facts about Emhoff and his relationship with Harris.
He's a lawyer.
Emhoff is a partner in the law firm DLA Piper, where, according to his biography on the firm's website, he "represents major national and international companies as well as some of today's most famous people and influencers in complex legal disputes in the fields of business, real estate and intellectual property".
His previous courtroom experience includes defending "a group of production companies in an insurance coverage dispute over a publicly known aircraft accident in a recent major movie" and representing "more than 50 commercial producers in a paid, hour-long entertainment class - Action lawsuit and various subsequent individual disputes. "
They met on a blind date.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple first met after PR consultant Chrisette Hudlin Harris and Emhoff went on a blind date. Just a year later, the two were married.

They were married in the Santa Barbara courthouse.
The ceremony was small and intimate. SF Gate covered all of the notable details: they honored each other's legacy (he wore a garland of flowers, she broke a glass), Harris' niece read Maya Angelous Touched by a Angel, Harris wore a gold dress by a California designer, and her The First Dance was set to "Like a Star" to Corinne Bailey Raes.
He has two children from a previous marriage.
His son and daughter Cole and Ella Emhoff call Harris "Momala," according to a 2019 essay she wrote for ELLE.
He supported Harris' motion for the presidency.
Emhoff's excitement for her 2020 run never seemed to wane, from selfies with her television appearances to her campaign swag.
He generally enjoys writing about them.
This probably doesn't come as a surprise when you come from someone whose Twitter bio literally includes "@kamalaharri's husband," but the man really loves to post about his wife. See below for evidence.
He cheered her on before the VP debate.
Before Senator Harris sat down to discuss Vice President Mike Pence, Emhoff shared a cute selfie with his spouse. "I have you and you have that. So proud of you. Love, Dougie," he wrote.
