Kamala Harris’ Secret Service agent 'clearly not happy' about VP's Pride walk: Twitter users react
Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance at the Pride event in Washington on Saturday, but it was one of her protectors who caught the attention of many Twitter users.
Every time a president or vice president mingles with the public, it becomes a challenge for those in charge of guarding them - simply because the situation is less under the control of the security authorities.
Much of the Twitter attention was focused on an intelligence agent near the Vice President, a tall man in sunglasses who could be seen in photos and videos behind Harris as she crossed the parade area.
"The secret service is obviously not happy that the person seeking protection is going for a walk," wrote attorney George Conway on Twitter.
Conway responded to a video clip showing Harris addressing a crowd at an intersection while the Secret Service agent was scanning the scene around them.

"This kind of spontaneous public engagement (especially in a crowd of this size) creates fear in the agents," remarked another in response to a video showing Harris and the second gentleman Douglas Emhoff surrounded by protesters. (Some men around them made it appear like intelligence agents as they turned their heads left and right as other people marched forward.)
Others on Twitter made more lighthearted comments.
"This intelligence agent is trying to remind all of us how to socialize after a year of zoom and quarantine," wrote one observer.

Some noticed the agents' casual attire.
"The secret service made me 'mixing' outfits (laughing emoji)," one person wrote.
"By far the best part is that the intelligence officer thought a bowling shirt was the standard Pride Parade outfit," wrote another.
Others seemed to recognize the difficult work of the intelligence agents.
"A thank you post to the intelligence officer who was ALWAYS on @VP's side," wrote a Twitter user.
