Kate Middleton May Have Fashioned Princess Diana's Jewels Into a Dazzling New Sapphire Necklace

Kate Middleton has unveiled a stunning new necklace believed to have been made by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
The new piece of jewelry was spotted on Kate when she and Prince William greeted the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena, at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
During the meeting, where the two couples sat facing each other on gold-trimmed couches, Kate matched her blue belt dress perfectly with her sapphire jewels. She wore her sapphire and diamond earrings with her sapphire engagement ring and the latest addition - a striking new necklace made from sapphire and diamond.

The dazzling piece, never seen before, features a sapphire surrounded by diamonds suspended from a smaller pendant in a similar design. Kate wore the piece on a very fine gold chain.
The pendant was likely redesigned from the same jewelry suite as Kate's earrings, which have also been redesigned from their original shape and worn several times. The origins of handcrafted sapphires go back to 1981, when Diana received a magnificent set of sapphire and diamond jewelry as a wedding gift from the Saudi royal family. They went perfectly with Diana's sapphire engagement ring that Kate is now wearing.
When Diana received the extravagant gift made by Asprey, which contained a huge Burmese sapphire and diamond pendant suspended from a thin diamond chain with matching earrings, ring, bracelet and watch, she was supposed to exclaim "My goodness and not me" to have. I don't even know this man! "
Kate isn't the first queen to bring the gemstones to market - Diana, who loved sapphires after wearing the pieces in their original shape, used the stones from the watch and ring to create entirely new pieces of jewelry, including a midnight blue velvet choker with diamonds and a large sapphire, which she wore as a headband on an official visit to Japan in 1986.
