When Prince William ascends to the throne, his wife, Kate Middleton, will become Queen Consort.
A royal insider told us Weekly that Kate may make some changes to royal protocol if she's in charge.
In particular, Kate allegedly wants to be more accessible to the public when she is in person and virtually queen.
Kate Middleton was a perfect picture of royal marriage and has proven that she can follow any royal rule that is thrown on her. But just because she's great at obeying the sometimes archaic royal rules doesn't mean she agrees with everyone. In fact, some royal experts believe that if her husband, Prince William, becomes king, she could make some very big changes to the way the royal family works.
If Will takes the throne, Kate will also be promoted to a new royal title: Queen Consort. And with this new title, a new force will come to make changes. To be queen consort is of course a lot of responsibility, but no one doubts that Kate is ready for it.
"Kate has grown into a queen waiting in front of everyone," a royal source told Us Weekly. "The royal family couldn't be happier."
What could Kate want to change in the way royal rules work when she's in charge? She apparently really focused on being more accessible to the public, which owes much to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, aka the "People's Princess".
"Kate could change some of the outdated royal rules when she becomes queen," the source explained, adding that Kate would also like more time to meet and speak with the public at official events. "She was also very present on social media and has made herself comfortable doing television interviews and virtual chats. She wants to continue this in the future."
We just have to wait and see what specific rules Kate could change when she gets the chance.
