Kate Middleton Wore Her Go-To Floral Mask With Coat From Zara’s Sister Brand

During a trip to the University of Derby in England on Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge not only wore her favorite floral-faced mask, but also combined it with another print in the form of a plaid coat. To talk to students about how the pandemic has impacted their university experience and mental health, Middleton braced himself fully, pairing her plump plaid outerwear with a sky blue cashmere sweater, both courtesy of Zara's luxury sister brand Massimo Dutti, high waisted black pants and a pair of high heel pumps. She even carried a Derby University tote bag to fit snugly inside.
Since the lockdown, Middleton has been photographed countless times wearing her floral face mask, designed by London-based children's fashion brand Amaia. She wore it for the first time in August while visiting Baby Basics, an organization that provides clothes, groceries, and other necessities to children in need. She redirected in September when she visited local stores - including a bakery where she and Prince William were making bagels - that were struggling financially due to COVID-19. After the initial wear and tear, searches for "floral face masks" spiked so much that searches for items in the UK increased 185% in less than 24 hours, according to Lyst, a fashion search engine. The masks sold out immediately on the Amaia website. (The brand has now been back in stock, but is warning customers of a three-week shipping delay amid high demand.)
When choosing fall outerwear, Middleton moved away from her usual high fashion labels and instead opted for a brown, knee-length wool coat from Massimo Dutti, a Spanish brand owned by Inditex. (In addition to Zara, Inditex owns Zara Home, Bershka, and Pull & Bear, among others.) The coat, which costs 349 US dollars, features subtle blue and yellow gingham checks and is miraculously stocked in one size Medium. Other sizes are not currently available, but the website allows buyers to join a mailing list to be notified when new goods arrive. Your cashmere crew neck is currently sold out in all sizes.
