Katie Couric Says It Was 'Fun Being a Little Naughty' While Dating Younger Man Brooks Perlin
Katie Couric reflects on her time in the dating scene after finding herself happily ever after with husband John Molner.

"I had a really fun time. He's a really good person," she enthuses. “You know, I've never done anything particularly scandalous.

"And I think it was at a time when I was really struggling professionally and I think I just had a real 'shit' attitude. I'm going to have a good time. And I did I don't think so that it was an eternal thing because he's 17 years younger than me, but it was fun to be a little naughty! " Couric adds.
She and the entrepreneur first met in 2006 after meeting at a cancer research fundraiser. Her first husband Jay Monahan, with whom she shares daughters Ellie, 30, and Caroline, 25, died of colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.

Couric and Perlin gave up in December 2011 after five years of relationship. "The split was inevitable," a source close to Couric told PEOPLE at the time, adding that the couple were "at different stages in their careers."
"Brooks is a good guy, but there is a time to every relationship - and that time is over," added the insider.
The writer of Going There started dating Molner, 58, later the next year, and the couple got engaged in 2013. They tied the knot in June 2014 at Couric's home in the Hamptons.

"It took me a long time [to remarry] because I loved being married, and I love being married now," Couric told former PEOPLE editor Jess Cagle in 2018. "And I am not a loner. I like company. And john is so funny. He just has this incredibly dry and dry sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously. And it's just fun to be with him. "
