Keenen Ivory Wayans Lists Suburban Mansion

After more than fifteen years, Keenen Ivory Wayans, perhaps best known as the Emmy Award-winning co-creator, writer, and star of the groundbreaking ensemble sketch comedy series In Living Color from the early 1990s, decided it was high time To do so, part with a family size home in a coveted pocket in the LA suburb of Tarzana.
Newly listed at nearly $ 3.2 million and tucked away in a small enclosed enclave of a few dozen houses, all built in a similar Mediterranean style, the roughly 6,200-square-foot Manse spans nearly half an acre of itself one of them is connected to the tree-shaded fairways of the El Caballero Country Club. Tax reports indicate that Wayans paid $ 2.6 million for the five bedroom, seven bath home available through Geoffrey Gilstrap and Christopher De Bruno of Dwell California Real Estate & Investments.
Two side-facing garages for two cars jut out in front of the Spanish colonial style villa, where extravagantly fluted stone pilasters flank a heavy wrought iron and glass door that surprisingly opens up to what has become arguably the most unnecessary and ubiquitous feature of the suburban mansions, a double high foyer. A vaulted gallery on the second floor overlooks the cavernous space, which is flooded with natural light throughout the day thanks to an industrial Suburu-sized skylight.

A fairly dainty formal living room with dark-stained wood beams over the flat ceiling is set up for entertaining with a walk-in wet bar and a carved stone fireplace the color of wet sand. As in the adjoining dining room with its minimalist modern light, French doors lead to the backyard. Offering a graphic mix of glossy black granite countertops, white marble tile backsplashes, and an array of high quality (if not brand new) appliances, the kitchen can be easily run around a large island to a sunny informal dining area and family room with another carved stone fireplace in the color of wet sand, dark stained wooden beams on the ceiling and several other French doors to the back yard.
There is at least one en-suite bedroom on the ground floor, while the master bedroom is on the second floor with two fireplaces, one in the bedroom and one in a separate living room. The suite also offers a private terrace, a spacious walk-in closet, and a luxurious (if a little dated) bathroom with ordinary beige floor tiles, rust-colored marble accents, and subtly eye-catching geometric wall paneling behind the makeup vanity.

An arched colonnade runs around the back of the house, providing a shady respite overlooking a pool surrounded by a stone terrace with a checkerboard pattern. There is a huge outdoor fireplace next to the poolside spa. There is a discreet sports field in a corner of the courtyard behind one of the garages.
Wayans developed together with some of his colleagues, Shawn and Marlon Wayans, the blockbuster-slasher-satire franchise "Scary Movie", whose first two Keenen directed. After a seven- or eight-year hiatus, the sixty-year-old actor, comedian and filmmaker is back in the game after co-writing and executive producing most of the episodes of the film's third and final season Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish on the TBS comedy series "The Last upper floor "
