Keith Urban speaks candidly about how wife Nicole Kidman helped him see what's important in life.
In an interview with The Sun on Wednesday, Urban, 54, opened up about a wide range of topics including his battle with addiction, his shifting priorities and his family life.
The country star went to rehab several times during his early career — most recently just months after he married Kidman, 54, in 2006. Their marriage marked a major turning point for the musician, who responded to an invitation to a party during the interview by quipping, "I want to stay married."
"I think I used to do something where I worked out the implications of everything I did and then decided if it was worth it - and most of the time I decided it would be despite the problems that it would cause,” he told the outlet.

He continued, "I'd say, 'I know that's going to cause this problem, but it's going to be freaking fun. Nighttime hates me during the day it's so true. But the next morning, night time is nowhere to be found - it's totally inexplicable."
These days, however, Urban's main focus is on his children: Sunday, 13, and Faith, 11.
“Life is very different these days. I'm trying to set a good example for the kids but I still don't know if I'm doing it right," said the "The Fighter" singer.
"I've made so many mistakes, but you have to find what works for you. My message to them is always to do what they're passionate about, I don't care as long as they work hard to achieve it." he continued. “Both Nic and I have worked very hard. For me it was like paying fees twice. I worked my way up through clubs in Australia to get a record deal, then moved to the US and had to start all over again, bottom."
He added, "Luckily it worked out a second time."

Last month, the "Cop Car" singer similarly opened up to The Times, saying, "My dad was an alcoholic so I grew up in an alcoholic house and it took me a long time to believe I was wired the same way."
"I don't talk about it much because I love that my audience can just come and have a great time. I have nothing against drugs or alcohol. Everyone does whatever they want to have a great time," the "One Too Many" singer continued. "I just realized I'm allergic to it. Someone said, 'You have an allergy? What happens if you drink?' And I said, 'I'm breaking out in handcuffs.'"
Meanwhile, in March, Kidman told E!'s Live from the Red Carpet that Urban traveled to Los Angeles to accompany her to the 2022 Oscars, where she was nominated on March 27 for her performance in Being the Ricardos — after she had played a concert in Las Vegas less than 24 hours before.
"I'm just so happy to be here. So happy to be here with my husband who was playing in Vegas last night and flew in and landed at 1am," said the Oscar winner. "Whatever is necessary."
