Kristin Cavallari says her split from Jay Cutler - which the couple of 10 announced last April - helped her be a "better mom" to their three children. Speaking to Hollywood Life, the reality star shared her focus on finding custody of 8-year-old Camden, 6-year-old Jaxon and 5-year-old Saylor in a "One Week On, One Week Off" - Agreement to share more present and make the most of their time together.
"I would say maybe it made me a better mother in a way because I have my kids half the time," said the 34-year-old. “When I have them for my week, I'm so incredibly present. "
She added, "I don't get distracted by my phone or anything else. I'm with them. When someone has a tantrum or something, I keep calm because I know I'll lose them in a few days."
When the kids are with Cutler, 37, Cavallari uses the time to "really focus on myself or whatever, so that I have my kids when I have my kids. That's it and I don't do anything other. "
Cavallari added that she likes "punching hard with my kids" when it is her turn. That includes not leaving them behind with a babysitter.
"I got a babysitter once when I was having my kids last year and I totally regretted it," she shared. "My friends say," Let's go out to eat. Let's go have a drink "and I'll say," I refuse to have a babysitter, "so all you have to do is find out what works for you."
Although she doesn't share her children's faces on social media, Cavallari documents her family adventures, including cooking together, making over with daughter Saylor, and traveling.
