Kyle Shanahan: It’s exciting Josh Rosen chose to join the 49ers

The 49ers have been particularly hard hit with injuries this season, but maybe Josh Rosen will get a silver lining.
San Francisco signed the # 10 Buccaneers Training This Week this week to back up C.J. To serve Beathard. At this point, Jimmy Garoppolo is unlikely to return from his ankle sprain in 2020. Nick Mullens, who started the six games, is out with an elbow injury.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said during a Wednesday interview on KNBR that it is exciting for the 49ers to find a player willing to leave a team en route to the postseason for one that is definitely not.
"And knowing that we have a guy here who got drafted in the first round who has some skill with his arm was exciting," Shanahan said of NBCSportsBayArea.com's Dalton Johnson. “We wanted to get someone and we need this body. And finding someone with their skills was pretty cool. "
Rosen started 13 games as a rookie for the Cardinals in 2018 and set a 3-10 record as a starter before the team replaced him with Kyler Murray. Then he took a 3-0 lead as a starter for Miami last year and the Dolphins designed Tua Tagovailoa that spring.
Overall, Rosen completed 54.8 percent of his passes for 2,845 yards with 12 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. However, this gives him the opportunity for a two-week audition on a team that may still have questions about his long-term quarterback.
"The way I see it is the way I just told you we have to bring a guy in. It's a bonus that it's a guy who was voted first round only [two years ago] "said Shanahan." Well, I'm glad to have a man here with this ability that we're going to look at. "
Rosen will at least be within familiar limits when he has to play as the 49ers will face the Cardinals in Arizona in Week 16.
