Lamborghini gives us a peek at its racing arm's next standalone car
Lamborghini's racing division, Squadra Corse, is preparing to launch its second stand-alone model. A short video has been released that gives us a visual and audible look at the car, which looks like an evolution of the Huracán.
We're not entirely sure what the second Squadra Corse car is powered by, and we have no idea what it's called, but we can already say that it will look more menacing than any regular production Lamborghini model. The 32-second video posted on YouTube shows enough of the track-bound coupe to whet our appetites. It's considerably wider than the Huracán, much lower, and equipped with a special body kit that includes vents carved into the quarter panels, a huge wing, and an intriguing periscope that presumably directs cooling air to the engine bay.
The silhouette and proportions suggest Huracán basics, although nothing is official yet and much of the exterior looks redesigned. The larger Aventador is nearing the end of its life cycle, its successor is expected to break cover in the next 12 months, and it received Squadra Corse treatment back in 2018.

Squadra Corse's involvement suggests that this is a Lamborghini designed solely for use on rails, and photographs of the interior support that theory. Instead of an instrument cluster, the driver is presented with a screen that shows key information about the car and its surroundings in a simple, easy-to-read layout. There's also a full roll cage and the side windows have been replaced with plexiglass units to keep the weight in check.
Lamborghini hasn't announced when the next new model of its Squadra Corse will be unveiled, but the reveal will almost certainly take place online. We anticipate production will be strictly limited, and it's not too far-fetched to speculate that if we see the car in the metal despite a six- or seven-digit price tag, every build slot will be talked about.
