‘Last Man Standing’: Fox’s Michael Thorn Dubs Tim Allen Sitcom “One Of The Most Meaningful Family Comedies” In TV Ahead Of Finale

Fox sends Tim Allen and the rest of the Last Man Standing family off with praise just days before the series finale.
“The show took a bold yet relatable point of view with great humor and sensitivity that spoke directly to families. Tim, the producers, and the cast have been great partners, and I think this series will be considered one of the greatest family comedies on television, ”Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment, told Deadline. "It is only fitting that a show of this importance should have the opportunity to say goodbye to its loyal fans."

In its hour-long finale, Last Man Standing will bid farewell to Mike Baxter and the rest of his quirky family members and staff. The family sitcom went through a number of cast and network changes in its nine-season course. The Tim Allen star first premiered on ABC in 2011 and ran for six seasons before the cable network decided not to extend it for a seventh season. Just a year later, Fox recorded the powerful sitcom for a premiere in September 2018.
Last Man Standing was created by Jack Burditt and also includes Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly McCook, Kaitlyn Dever, Christoph Sanders, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams, Krista Marie Yu and Hector Elizondo. Showrunner Executive Kevin Abbott produces alongside Allen, Matt Berry, Kevin Hench, Ed Yeager, Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, Pat Bullard, Mike Teverbaugh, Linda Teverbaugh and John Amodeo.
Prior to the Fox presentation, Allen pondered his time as director of the series and shared that it had been difficult to leave the project after nearly a decade.
“To be completely honest, I had trouble letting go of this one. It's only been three or four weeks and I literally only feel better. Outside of home improvement and maybe moments from Galaxy Quest, I've never enjoyed any of these jobs, ”he said during a TCA panel. "This crew, from the man at the Radford gate inside to the people we dined with, I loved every second of the experience."
The Last Man Standing finale will air on Thursday from 9pm to 10pm on Fox. ET / PT.
