Leah Remini Says Tom Cruise's 'Psychotic Rant' About COVID-19 Is A 'Publicity Stunt'

Count actress Leah Remini from the celebrity praise for Tom Cruise's recent explosive rant over COVID-19 protocols.
While many stars came to Cruise's defense over the leaked audio recording of the actor who allegedly berated members of the Mission Impossible 7 crew for violating safety guidelines, Remini believes his outburst was "just for publicity reasons."
In a post on Wednesday's anti-Scientology blog The Underground Bunker, Remini, one of the organization's best-known defectors and prominent critics, described the rant as a "psychotic joke" and described Cruise as an "abusive person."
“Tom doesn't care about his crew's families; That's all for the public, ”wrote Remini. “Tom doesn't believe in family values. I mean the way someone falls for it is just mind blowing. I would bet Tom wrote this abuse for him and that his Scientology assistant recorded and published it. Hearing a wealthy actor with tremendous power address his crew in this way is a sign of weakness and a deeply troubled person. "

“Tom seems to believe that without his help, Hollywood wouldn't be able to make films. When you say such a thing, it points to the god-like figure that Tom believes is and what Scientology is telling him, ”Remini continued. “The reality is that everyone who works in Hollywood today works under strict COVID guidelines. Everyone who works knows that. Tom Cruise doesn't dictate how films are made, even if he seems to believe it. "
Remini went on to claim that the rant reveals Cruise's "real personality".
“He is an abusive person. I saw it, I was a small recipient of it, and I was told of similar abuse by his ex-girlfriend, coworkers and friends, ”wrote Remini. "This is the real Tom."
And she encouraged those who praised his behavior to reconsider the dynamics of power in the game, writing: “This is not just a man in the middle of a public square standing up against someone who is not wearing a mask. This is Tom Friggin 'Cruise wielding his power and threatening and humiliating his crew. "
The Church of Scientology has since issued a statement to The Wrap responding to Remini's claims.
“The Church of Scientology has done more than any other religious institution in promoting COVID-19 prevention efforts - in the US and worldwide. Long before the “stay at home” policy, the church took aggressive action to prevent the virus from spreading, ”it says. “The leader of the Church has acted well ahead of the curve. Remini is an unreliable source who attacks Scientology for advertising and money - as she herself admitted. "

While it was unclear what COVID-19 restrictions the crewmembers violated, British tabloid The Sun reported that Cruise exploded after seeing two coworkers standing close together on a computer screen. Sources close to the production later confirmed to Variety that the actor was actually the person speaking in the clip.
“We're creating thousands of jobs, you assholes. I never want to see it again. Je! "Cruise shouted in one segment." We're not closing this damn film! Does it understand? If I watch it again, you'll be damned gone. "
The upcoming sequel to Mission Impossible has seen a sizeable amount of speed restrictions as filming was halted in February due to coronavirus concerns. Production resumed in September as the cast and crew staged death defying stunts in Norway and further filming was planned in numerous locations around the world.
However, there were further delays in October when 12 people on the set in Italy tested positive for COVID-19. Production in the UK started again earlier this month.
Cruise reportedly got into the crew a second time when news of the first incident made international headlines and, according to The Sun, five employees have since ceased production.
Reps for Cruise did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment on The Sun's new report.
