Lorde Gives Green Light To First New Single In Four Years And We Really Want It
Aside from undeclared work as the world's leading onion ring scientist, Lorde has had an extended absence from the limelight since the release of her critically acclaimed second album "Melodrama" four years ago.
And while the wait for new music from the Grammy-winning singer hasn't reached Rihanna-level fervor, her fans have been die-hard to hear what she's cooking in the studio or even in Antarctica - frankly, we're taking at this point everything.
On Monday, Lorde finally fed us all by announcing her new music by updating her website with what appears to be cover art for an upcoming single called "Solar Power". In the unabashedly cheeky picture, the New Zealand singer appears to jump over a sun-drenched place while the camera captures her from the ground up.
Lorde kept it cryptic forever and wrote next to the picture: "Arrival in the year 2021 ... patience is a virtue."

What kind of sound we can expect from the new release, we are all preparing for a summer candidate song if the cover is a clue. Her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff also seems to be involved in the single and shares the picture on his own Instagram without a caption.
The road to get there was paved with delays and disappointments from their fans, who beg for crumbs from the singer after the success of her first two albums.
In 2019, Lorde announced that she was postponing her third album after the death of her dog Pearl. In an email to fans, she wrote: “He was instrumental in the discovery. I felt like he led me to the ideas. And it will take some time and recalibration, now that there is no shepherd before me, to see what the work will be. "
Months later, she informed fans again that she had "returned to the studio" with Antonoff and teased that, despite the growing impatience, everyone would have to wait a little longer.
"I've looked at some of your notes online and can sense the (extremely sweet, EXTREMELY flattering) despair creeping into your voices," she wrote. "You need it! That thing can't come soon enough! I see - all I want is to feed you goodies, to cram perfect bites right into your little mouths. But as I get older, I realize that there is something for that." gives a pleasant feeling to wait for something of high quality to be available. "
And in October 2020, she hinted that a new album was imminent to call on her New Zealanders to vote in the country's upcoming elections.
Now that she has finally kept her promises, her fans took to Twitter to celebrate the upcoming release and have fun with the highly meme-worthy album artwork.
