Magic’s Cole Anthony finished as the rookie preseason scoring leader

While Cole Anthony described his first preseason appearance with the Orlando Magic as terrible, it wasn't long before the 20-year-old jumped back and turned things around.
Anthony finished the preseason on Saturday with 19 points to help the Magic to a 120-117 win over the Charlotte Hornets. He shot 7-of-15 off the field and had the starting basket, a running floater, 14.1 seconds ahead to seal the win.
During his four preseason games, Anthony led all the newbies in the standings (55 points) and made 3 points (8) while also being linked to LaMelo Ball for most assists (15) among the first year players. His 55 total points took 27th place among all players.
The top five rookie goalscorers of the 2020-21 preseason:
Cole Anthony (55 points)
Isaac Okoro (45 points)
Patrick Williams (45 points)
Devin Vassell (41 points)
Desmond Bane (37 points)
Of course, taking the lead in the rookie class doesn't bring any trophies to Anthony, but the strong start shows how much he has improved in every game. Anthony knew it would take time to adjust to the speed of the NBA and he looks a lot more comfortable than he did in his first game.
The Magic certainly has high expectations for Anthony this season. He plans to play an important role on the team and the confidence he's played with will go a long way as Orlando prepares to end the regular season against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.
