A man removed his pants and underwear and attempted to rape a woman on a Manhattan subway, police said Thursday.
The 24-year-old victim was traveling on an Uptown Train 4 when the stranger removed his pants and underwear and lay on top of her around 11:30 p.m. November 17, police said. He fondled her and tried to pull down her skirt.
The woman fled to another car. Her attacker got off the train at the Bowling Green stop and then boarded a ferry to Staten Island.
Police released surveillance footage of the suspect and are asking for the public's help to identify and track him.
He is described as 25 to 35 years old with dyed blonde hair and a pierced right eyebrow. He wore a black winter jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, a gray hoodie and sweatpants with the BMW logo, and white sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls are treated confidentially.
