Marvel Reveals 'Black Panther' Sequel Title, First Look At 'Eternals' And More
Marvel is returning fans with a sizzling role that features new footage and details on upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated sequel to Black Panther.
The sequel to Ryan Coogler's record-breaking blockbuster smash is titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and is slated to hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
The sequel to the 2018 Marvel movie won't look the same without star Chadwick Boseman, who had colon cancer and died in August.
Lupita Nyong'o recently spoke about how the second "Black Panther" film, due to be shot in Atlanta later this year, has been retooled to address Boseman's death, which is "still extremely raw to me."
"We have a leader in Ryan who feels very much like us, who is also feeling the loss in a very, very real way," she told Yahoo Entertainment. "And his idea of how he redesigned the second film is so respectful of the loss we've all experienced as a cast and as a world. So it feels mentally and emotionally correct to do so. And hopefully I'm excited looking forward to getting back together and honoring what he has done with us and holding out his light. Because he has left us a lot of light that we will still bathe in. I know that for sure. "
Elsewhere in the sizzling role, Marvel first glimpsed Chloé Zhao's "Eternals," which is slated to hit theaters on November 5, 2021. The film will introduce fans to an immortal race of superheroes played by a range of familiar faces. including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan and Kumail Nanjiani.
The footage appears to be in keeping with the signature style of the newly minted Oscar winner, as the cast is shown in stunning natural locations with no green screen. In a brief flash of lightning, a blonde Jolie brandishes a giant golden sword and appears to be preparing for battle, while Hayek rides a horse in front of a majestic backdrop.
Also, Nia DaCosta's "Captain Marvel 2" has been dubbed "The Marvels" as the sequel will feature several heroes who take on the famous nickname, including Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) )), which was last seen in "WandaVision" on Disney +.
