Matt Gaetz’s Future Sister-in-Law Says He’s a Gaslighting 'Creep'

Daily Beast / TikTok
Rep. Matt Gaetz's future sister-in-law appears to have had more than enough with the Florida congressman, posting three TikTok videos in the past two days calling him "weird and creepy" and "literal pedophile".
Roxanne Luckey - the sister of Gaetz ’fiancé Ginger Luckey - sharply criticized the congressman and his treatment of young women, saying she was" unfortunately not surprised "to learn that Gaetz was under investigation for sex crimes.
In a video on Monday night, Roxanne Luckey told a story about how Gaetz pressured an older man to woo her when she was 19. Roxanne Luckey called the move "strange and creepy" - and she claims that Gaetz yelled at her and her mother and had become a "full" lawyer "when she confronted him.
Bombshell Letter: Gaetz paid to have sex with minors, Wingman says
"I saw his character and type and when it all came out about him I honestly wasn't surprised," Luckey said in a video.
"As someone who has personally seen how many creepy old politicians attacked me when I was a minor and experienced sexual assault by those in power at that age, it's very disheartening and I have no tolerance for people like [Gaetz]. " said Roxanne, who was a short-term intern at the White House in 2020. She added that she is "tired of getting away with this kind of stuff".
After the videos were posted, Ginger Luckey hit back on her sister, telling The Daily Beast that she had a history of "destructive behavior."
Roxanne, now 20, said she shared her experience in part because of her interactions with powerful men and her belief that it was important to "hold people accountable as much as possible."
"There's so much more to the story and about what I know about Matt Gaetz," she added. "It's definitely a serious situation."
The first of the videos, released on Sunday, showed Luckey dancing and lip-syncing to Lana Del Ray's "Jealous Girl," with a New York Times headline in the background that read, "Matt Gaetz Is To Face Justice Department A Underage Girls. ”She added her own text and wrote,“ When a creepy old man tries to turn you on at the bar but your sisters got engaged to a literal pedophile. ”

In a follow-up video on Monday night, Luckey apologized for using the term "pedophile" and switched to "ephebophile" - someone who mainly attracts middle to late teens - which she thought was more appropriate for Gaetz.
While The Daily Beast couldn't reach Roxanne Luckey, the woman in the TikTok video appears to be the same person featured in a family photo on Ginger Luckey's Facebook page, and the two women have multiple overlapping social media connections. Ginger Luckey's mom also seems to like posts on Roxanne's Facebook. The TikTok account also shares two videos showing the person working as an intern in the White House. The Daily Beast was able to verify with a former Trump official that Roxanne Luckey was interning in the summer of 2020, the TikTok account claims.
Called for comment Monday night, Ginger Luckey alleged she and Roxanne were estranged. (A video posted by Roxanne Luckey suggests she wasn't dating her sister and Gaetz until November.)
“Matt and I are enjoying our engagement and we are deeply in love. My estranged sister is mentally ill, ”Ginger Luckey said in a text message. "She has been in therapy for years and our family hopes that after inpatient psychiatric treatment, she will overcome the tendency she has repeatedly shown to be destructive."
How Joel Greenberg's Plea Deal gets Matt Gaetz in trouble
Roxanne Luckey did not respond to The Daily Beast's request for comment. A Gaetz spokesman said the congressman supported his fiancée and her testimony.
Roxanne Luckey, who turned out to be the victim of sexual assault by "people of power" in a video, told an episode last summer when Gaetz tried to set Roxanne Luckey up with a friend shortly after going out with her sister. She said she was a 19-year-old intern at the Trump White House at the time when Gaetz tried to connect her with a colleague of his who was divorced with a child.
According to Luckey's report, the older man was "creepy" and kept making her uncomfortable, even after she turned down his advances and told him she had a boyfriend. She noted that when the man later apologized, the man shifted the blame for his aggressive advances on Gaetz.
"Sorry for what I said, I just wanted to get Matt off my back," claimed Luckey, the nameless man said.
Luckey said when she confronted Gaetz about the incident at a family reunion, Thanksgiving, the 39-year-old lawyer and third-term congressman was trying to gas light her up.
"He just got so defensive and started yelling at me and my mom," said Roxanne Luckey. "He called me a narcissist, only punished me a thousand percent with gaslighting - he became a lawyer: 'I don't have to listen to you, I don't have to answer your questions.'
"Anyway," added Luckey.
Gaetz paid the accused sex dealer, who then seduced the teen
She said Gaetz's anger and quick temper made her believe he knew he was responsible. "Someone who is innocent shouldn't get so defensive, and literally being a grown man and yelling at a 20-year-old girl is just too big for me," she said.
Luckey posted a TIkTok video about the encounter at the time with the headline: "It's the friend of the Sisters Congressman who calls me a narcissist because he called him for me ?? ‍♀️?"
Luckey emphasized that the experiences that shaped her opinion "weren't just that encounter with Matt." When she was at the White House in D.C. was doing an internship, she said, she heard “through the vine” that Gaetz “had a reputation for sneaking after college girls as a grown man, and that's just strange to me”.
She added the caveat to this claim that "everything is hearsay".
"Every story has two sides and I acknowledge that," she said. "But I experienced that."
Luckey seems to have quickly sided with Gaetz. After the news of the investigation broke out, she liked numerous tweets calling him a "pervert" - even when her older sister came to an event at Trump National Doral where he described himself as the "Champion of Women". She also posted a mash-up TikTok video in early April of young women, possibly friends, who claimed the congressman was guilty and should be kicked out of Congress. She added the hashtags “#mattgaetzhumantrafficking” and “#mattgaetzisatool”.
Gaetz and Ginger Luckey got engaged on New Year's Eve in Mar-a-Lago after dating less than a year. Ginger and Roxanne are sisters of tech entrepreneur Palmer Luckey, who sold his virtual reality company Oculus Rift to Facebook for $ 2.3 billion in 2014. The couple attempted to buy a $ 155,000 yacht in Florida in late May, but the owner withdrew the sale, citing the reason they painted over the name of the boat without his permission prior to closing the deal.
On Monday, Roxanne Luckey replied to a TikTok user who posted a comment on one of the videos begging her to "get your sister out of the relationship".
"He's a narcissist and a master manipulator," Luckey replied. "She believes everything he tells her."
Meanwhile, prosecutors have questioned a number of Gaetz employees about the May 14 confession of guilt of his former "wingman" Joel Greenberg. Last week, Politico reported that a defense attorney representing a person in the case saw evidence that Gaetz had sex with an underage girl.
