McCarthy to House Republicans: "Cut this crap out"
House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy warned his members to end the public squabbles within the conference if they are to effectively push back the Biden administration and win the majority back in 2022, a congressional assistant told CBS News.
His blunt message to his colleagues on Wednesday: "Cut that crap out."
The warning comes as several members of the conference seek to oust Third House Republican Representative from Wyoming Liz Cheney from her position as conference chair. Cheney voted to indict then-President Trump and angered many Republicans by issuing a statement the day before her vote setting out her position - which was later quoted by several House Democrats during the floor debate.

McCarthy had previously warned his members not to call each other publicly after the January 6 riots at the Capitol, as doing so could potentially put their colleagues in danger.
The aide said McCarthy's frustration was audible on the call and his message was even stronger. McCarthy also said the intra-party war is preventing the GOP from focusing on political initiatives and confronting the new president.
