US soccer star Megan Rapinoe was unable to attend the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday, but was definitely there in spirit.
A video was circulated in which Rapinoe and his teammate Abby Dahlkemper simulated a march into an imaginary Olympic stadium in their uniforms for the opening ceremony would.
The US team, shot at by Sweden in their first game, will essentially have to win against New Zealand on Saturday to get past the group game. Preparation for this competition prevented the American team from attending the opening ceremony.
But there was still time to celebrate the honor of being an Olympian.
