Free-agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caused a stir Sunday morning on a plane from Miami to L.A., resulting in the plane being emptied and the flight being delayed.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has issued a statement on the situation.
"Around 9:30 a.m., officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department were dispatched to a medical emergency on an American Airlines flight," the statement said, via NFL Media. "The flight crew was concerned about a passenger [Mr. Odell Beckham] when they tried to wake him to buckle up he appeared to be unconscious and unconscious before they left. Fearing that Mr Beckham was seriously ill, that the expected five-hour flight would make his condition worse, the attendants called the police and fire brigade. Upon the officers' arrival, the flight crew repeatedly asked Mr Beckham to get off the plane, which he refused. The plane was abandoned, whereupon Mr Beckham was ordered by officers to exit the plane, which happened without incident. Mr Beckham was escorted by officers to the unsecured area of the terminal where he made other arrangements.”
