Michelle Williams’ father dies at 68: ‘The Lord took you in his arms’

"Daddy, you fought harder than those of us who are in good health!" Williams wrote to him.
Singer and actress Michelle Williams mourns the loss of her father, who passed away this weekend at the age of 68.
Williams shared the news on her Instagram page, where she wrote a loving tribute to Dennis Williams.

"I just don't know what to say or where to start. Papa, you fought harder than those of us who are in good health! You have fought for 15 years !!! You really survived moments when we thought you wouldn't make it !! "Williams wrote.
"Mom said last night she sang songs to you and you looked so pleased and had a peaceful look in your eyes," she continued. "You weren't in pain either !! The Lord took you in his arms this morning and I'm so grateful that you rest in him!"
"I love you dad !!!!" She closed and then listed her father's life dates: November 13, 1952 to December 20, 2020.

Just the day before, Williams tweeted about the check-in, with Michelle Williams featured on O, Oprah Magazine's "12 Most Awaiting Podcasts of 2021".
In the podcast, based on and inspired by her upcoming memoirs, Checking In: How Experiencing Depression Saved My Life - And Can Save Your Life - Williams will interview other celebrities who have looked at mental health issues. It will debut Tuesday on the Black Effect, a podcast network led by Charlamagne Tha God.

After joining Destiny's Child in early 2000, Williams embarked on a strong solo career as a gospel artist, actress, and performer on Broadway and other stages, including starring in Aida, Chicago, and Fela: The Musical, the latter of Jay-Z.
Last year she decided to largely reset her priorities and said, “I'm going to take some time off and work on myself so I can get out of here and give the best of myself, not an empty me. ”

Williams has often described himself as being in a cocoon. She returned to the spotlight on The Masked Singer last year as Ironfly as the Butterfly.
Her book is scheduled for May 2021.
