Michigan State basketball's cold shooting leads to historic upset for Northwestern

Michigan State basketball never really got a run together on Sunday night.
The # 4 Spartans lost to the Northwestern Wildcats (79-65) at Evanston. MSU drops to 6-1 while Northwestern drops to 4-1 with its first win against a top 5 team since 1979. If it makes Spartan fans feel better, then this season ended with Magic Johnson and the Spartans winning a national championship.
Tom Izzo's team fell thanks to a cold shooting night for the Spartans and a consistent offensive by the Wildcats.

Northwestern shot 9 of 17 from 3-point range with 7 minutes of play in the second half, while MSU shot 6 of 25 to that point.
The emotions on social media ranged from anger to anger at that anger and much more:
See: soccer game.
For the first time since January 27, 1979, Northwestern beat a top five team.

Northwestern had lost 54 games in a row against top five teams, the longest such loss of all time.

In the 1979 game, Magic Johnson had a triple-double loss for Michigan State No. 4.

It's been a tough day for another alleged conference title contender. Big Ten Misery loves company.
