Midwin Charles Dies: Legal Analyst Remembered By NYC Mayor, CNN’s Don Lemon, MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, ‘The View’ Host Sunny Hostin, Others – Update
UPDATED with reactions: Legal analyst Midwin Charles, known to viewers for her frequent appearances on CNN, MSNBC, HLN and Bloomberg TV, died Tuesday. She was 47.
Her death was announced on social media by her family. Cause of death and other details were not given.

"It is with a deeply heavy heart and deepest sadness that we announce the untimely death of our beloved Midwin Charles," her family said in a Twitter statement. “She was known to many as a legal commentator on television, but to us she was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. Our lives are forever changed and we will miss them for a lifetime. "

Stephanie Ruhle paid tribute to Charles on MSNBC.
Charles was the founder of Midwin Charles & Associates LLC law firm, an associate of Essence Magazine, and she was a regular commentator on law, pop culture and politics for CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Bloomberg TV and TV One. She earned her law degree from American University at Washington College of Law and later served as a clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for Judge Eric L. Clay and a social justice research fellow at A. Leon Higginbotham Jr. Harvard Law School.
“Midwin, dear heart,” tweeted MSNBC presenter Joy Reid last night, “you were a brilliant mind and a beautiful soul. You have been such a blessing. I am just stunned and since I found out about it today. Blessings to your mother and family. Please live every moment as if it is your last and value your friends excessively. "
