Mike Evans is 221 receiving yards away from an all-time record (and his coach is aware of it)
In each of his six previous NFL seasons, Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans generated at least 1,000 reception yards. That ties him in with Randy Moss for most consecutive 1000 yard seasons to begin a career.
Evans broke the record with 221 yards in the last two regular season games at Tampa Bay. Coach Bruce Arians is aware of this.
"There's something on my head," Arians told reporters on JoeBucsFan.com Thursday. "I haven't spoken to the quarterback. I don't want the quarterbacks to force things. But yeah, I think so. If guys have a chance to make a difference in NFL history, they want it to happen. I would love it when Mike gets this record. "
Moss would have had eight straight seasons of 1,000 yards each to start his career, but because of an injury that resulted in him missing three games in 2004. He won 1,005 in 2005, his first season at Oakland, before falling to 553 yards in 2006.
Evans is also 52 yards away from cracking the all-time top 100 in receiving yards. After that, he'll climb the ladder quickly, especially if he continues to produce, as he's done since joining the league as a first round winner in 2014.
