Miley Cyrus Explains Why She Decided to Get Sober 6 Months Ago

By ELLE
Miley Cyrus committed to a substance-free life six months ago, as the singer revealed in her new interview with Variety today.
Cyrus had been particularly vocal about her marijuana use in the past and even told Jimmy Fallon that she was "always very stoned" in her Tonight Show interviews in 2017.
The magazine asked Cyrus if there was anything she could look back on and asked what she was thinking at the time. Then she talked about her new sober lifestyle, which was triggered by her vocal cord operation at the end of last year.

"It was really important to me to have a sober lifestyle last year because I really wanted to polish my craft," she said. "I had a really big voice operation in November. I had four fucking weeks of not talking. I was so upset when I wrote on the whiteboard and yelled at everyone," she said with a laugh. "I had this big bicep because I was just yelling at mom and still trying to make meetings. But it prepared me for silence and silence."
"I've been sober and sober for the past six months," she continued when asked about the extent to which she was sober. "In the beginning, it was just about this voice operation. ... But I had thought a lot about my mother. My mother was adopted and I inherited some of the feelings she had, the feelings of abandonment and the desire to prove that you are me wanted and valuable. My father's parents divorced when he was three years old, so my father raised himself. I wrote a lot of family history that has a lot of addiction and mental health problems as I am? 'If we understand the past, we understand the present and the future much more clearly. I think the therapy is great. "
She added that explaining why she chose sobriety is also challenging, especially for someone in her twenties. "It is really difficult, because especially when you are young, there is the stigma" you are not fun, "" she said. "It's like 'darling, you can call me a lot of things, but I know I'm fun.' What I love about it is waking up 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. I don't want to wake up and feel dizzy. I want to wake up and feel ready. "
