Mindy Kaling Secretly Had Another Baby and His Name Is Too Cute

Mindy Kaling shared some important news last night in her appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert: She gave birth to her second child on September 3rd after keeping her entire pregnancy a secret. The writer and actress told the presenter she was sure the stencil was up when paparazzi caught her eight months pregnant, but the arrival of her son was still a surprise to fans. Mindy Kaling also shared her new baby's name: Spencer, which some suspect is a tribute to actor Spencer Tracy, especially since her two-and-a-half year old daughter is called Katherine. (Do you understand? Tracy and Hepburn?)
Kaling greeted Katherine in December 2017. Colbert was curious to see how the older Kaling accepted her new younger brother.
"She was very ambivalent at first I would say to be generous," said Kaling. "She was really worried about her toys being taken ... Then she was happy when he came home from the hospital with me and he was just that lump that couldn't take her toys. So she's a huge fan now that she met him. "
While Kaling values her privacy - never posting photos of her daughter's face, for example - she has shared details of her life in several memoirs. A new collection of personal essays entitled "Nothing Like I Imagined" (Except Sometimes) has just been published on Amazon. When asked why she didn't talk about her recent pregnancy on social media, Kaling told Colbert that the pandemic is actually affecting her decision.
"There was so much going on and so much heartache in the world that it was strange going out of my way to shed light on some huge health information," she said.
Lockdown also made it easier to keep the information to yourself. "Nobody saw me!" Kaling added.
