Missing California Teen Kiely Rodni’s Mom Shares Final Text, When She ‘Knew Something Was Wrong’

Missing California teenager Kiely Rodni sent her mother a final message late Friday night.
The 16-year-old texted her mother, Lindsey Rodni-Nieman, from a party at Prosser Family Campground in Truckee — about 15 miles north of Lake Tahoe — and said she plans to leave the party in 45 minutes and "straight home." " get ."
"I told her to be safe and that I love her. And she said, "Ok mom, I love you too," Rodni-Nieman told ABC News.

But Rodni never made it home and she - and her silver 2013 Honda CRV - are still missing days later, despite extensive ground and helicopter searches to locate the teenager.
"Numerous resources and agencies have responded over the past few days to assist in the search for Kiely," the Placer County Sheriff's Office said in an update Tuesday. "This includes investigators and search and rescue specialists from across the region."
According to authorities, Rodni was last seen at around 12:30 am Saturday morning at the party, which had attracted up to 300 attendees.
Angela Musallam, the publicity officer for the Placer County Sheriff's Office, told ABC News Monday that shortly after her last visit, Rodni's cell phone was "dead" and the teen was "virtually untraceable."
When Rodni-Nieman woke up on Saturday morning to find her daughter had never made it home, she called and texted Rodni, but received no reply.
"That's when I knew something was wrong," she said, describing the disappearance as "out of character" for her daughter, who was looking forward to starting college in the fall.
According to The Reno Gazette, Rodni had skipped a grade, graduated early, and planned to study music at Sierra College outside of Sacramento.
Rodni's friend Sami Smith told Fox News the teenagers had been drinking that night and she said Rodni had enough to be drunk. She doesn't believe that her friend would have taken the wheel in this state.
"For the amount of drinks we've both had together, she's not that stupid," she added, explaining why she doesn't think Rodni would have got behind the wheel that night.
"When I left I thought she was going to stay there," she added. “Everyone went camping. It was late enough that she should have stayed. She's not the type to drive drunk or anything."
Smith left just before Rodni was last seen, telling the Reno Gazette she called the 16-year-old around midnight after Rodni called to find out where she was.
"I got a ride. Don't worry," Smith said, reassuring her before adding, "I love you."
It was the last time she spoke to Rodni.
Smith admitted the couple had met some strangers that night and said they were both probably a little overconfident but didn't notice anything or anyone that night that gave her any concerns.
"I remember we celebrated together. She was having fun," Smith said. "She seemed really happy - she was like normal, just on an adrenaline rush. Said hi to everyone.”
Authorities said they are reviewing all options and are not ruling out a kidnapping.
“We want to leave no stone unturned. We take this case, just like any other missing persons case, very seriously," Musallam told KCRA. "Kiely is currently considered incredibly vulnerable because she is a minor and missing and we are unable to locate her or her vehicle."
They posted a picture Tuesday of the attire the teen wore to the party, which included a black body suit with spaghetti straps, green Dickies trousers, a black grommet belt and black Vans shoes.

On Tuesday morning, search teams descended on Lake Prosser to search by boat while other ground and air searches began. Authorities used specially trained K-9s, dirt bikes and four-wheelers to search the area in hopes of finding clues.
Along with the Placer County Sheriff's Office, the FBI, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol have allocated resources to assist in the search effort.
Rodni's family just hopes someone with information on her whereabouts will come forward to share what they know.
"We are so scared and we miss her so much and we love her so much. And Kiely, we love you and if you see this, please, please just come home," Rodni-Nieman said in a video released by the Sheriff's Department. "I want nothing more than to hug you. If anyone else is out there, if you know where she is, if you know anything about where she might be, if you have any ideas or thoughts, please come forward and share."
