MLB Rumors: 'Several executives' expect Xander Bogaerts to sign with this team in free agency
MLB Rumours: 'Multiple Executives' Expect Bogaerts to Sign with This Team, originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
MLB executives already have an idea where Xander Bogaerts will play next season, and it's not Boston.
If the all-star shortstop doesn't sign a contract extension with the Red Sox, he's expected to step out of the three years and $60 million remaining on his current contract and become a free agent. The two sides have yet to discuss a new contract this season, so the launch of Bogaerts seems a foregone conclusion.

In that case, keep an eye on the Chicago Cubs. USA TODAY's MLB insider Bob Nightengale claims "several executives are predicting" that they will freehand Bogaerts next winter.
Nightengale points out that Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer was in the Red Sox's front office when they signed Bogaerts as an international free agent from Aruba in 2009. Chicago parted ways with its own native shortstop, Javier Baez, before the trade deadline ended the season.
Bogaerts will deserve a big payday whether it's in Boston or anywhere else. The 29-year-old, who helped the Red Sox to two World Series titles, is hitting a .318 with six homers and 31 RBI in 76 games this season.
