Model Stella Tennant Dies Suddenly at 50: Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and More Pay Tribute
Scottish supermodel Stella Tennant died suddenly, her family said on Wednesday December 23.
She died on Tuesday, five days after her 50th birthday, the Guardian said in a statement. "It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Stella Tennant on December 22nd, 2020," says her message. "Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to all of us. She will be greatly missed. Her family asks for privacy. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later date."
Although a cause of death is not yet known, a spokesman for Police Scotland told E! News There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. "The officers were called to an address in Duns on Tuesday, December 22nd at around 11:30 am following the sudden death of a 50-year-old woman," the spokesman said. "Your immediate relatives have been made aware ... a report will be presented to the Treasury Attorney."
Tennant is survived by estranged husband David Lasnet, their son Marcel, 22, and three daughters - Cecily (19), Jasmine (18) and Iris (16). The supermodel's death comes four months after the Daily Mail reported that she and Lasnet split after 21 years of marriage.

Tennant rose to fame in the '90s working with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. Known for her pixie haircut, Tennant has appeared in ad campaigns for brands such as Calvin Klein, Chanel and Burberry and has modeled for top designers such as the late Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld and Donatella Versace.

Tennant retired from modeling in 1998 when she was pregnant with their oldest child. She made a model comeback shortly after Jasmine was born in 2002 and appeared in a Burberry campaign, according to Vogue. In 2012, she, Moss, Campbell and other supermodels appeared on stage at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony to pay tribute to the UK fashion industry.
Following the news of her sudden death, several famous fashion figures paid tribute to Tennant on social media.
"Stella, I can't believe you're gone," Versace wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. "You left us way too soon. We met when you were at the beginning of your career. I cherish every moment we spent together. Ciao. Rest in peace. Donatella."
Campbell wrote on her own page: "#STELLA TENNANT CLASS ACT IN EVERYWAY Humble, loyal, balanced, practical, a rare beauty inside and out Where we left off. Crawford also mourned Tennant on Instagram, writing, "Stella Tenant, gone too early ... I've always admired her fearlessness and style. Sending prayers to her family."
