Moderna says CDC panel recommends its COVID-19 vaccine for adults

(Reuters) - Moderna Inc said Saturday the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices for the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had decided to recommend the use of the company's COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 18 and over .
The panel voted 11-0 for the vaccine, the company said in a press release.
The result of the vote came one day after the Food and Drug Administration approved the emergency use of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine.

"ACIP's recommendation is another step forward in our endeavors to fight this devastating pandemic with a vaccine," said CEO Stephane Bancel in the press release.
Moderna's is the second COVID-19 vaccine to be approved in the US after a similar vaccine received the emergency green light from Pfizer Inc and German partner BioNTech SE.
Moderna's vaccine spread in the U.S. began on Saturday with more than 3,700 locations scheduled to receive and administer shots as early as Monday.
