A 2 year old sparked an unusual friendship with a Halloween decoration.
Pictures of boy Theo and the five-foot plastic skeleton have wowed social media users thanks to Utah's mom Abigail Brady, who stays home and shares photos of her son and the strange playmate - Benny named after the skeleton taxi driver of the classic Disney - Films Halloweentown.
Abigail tells Yahoo Life the unlikely relationship started in September after noticing some moisture in her basement.
"I went to look and the water heater was broken and flooded," she says. “The basement is unfinished so it wasn't that big of a deal. While I was cleaning up the mess, [Theo] found the skeleton. When it was time to go, he wanted to take the skeleton upstairs. He wouldn't get in the car without him, so I brought Benny with me. When we got to the reservoir, he refused to get out of the car unless the skeleton came with us. He's been obsessed with it ever since. "
Abigail created a TikTok of Theo and Benny's time at the reservoir that went viral. The video shows the couple in the sand, playing in the playground and in the water. By Friday, the video had received over 344.5,000 likes.
"I thought it would be a fun little video to share their unique friendship," she says. “I was quite surprised at all of the love I received. I really didn't expect it to be that big. It was definitely a fun little adventure. "
The proud mom and lifestyle blogger has since shared several other videos for TikTok and Instagram showing Theo and Benny's adventures, including the story, grocery shopping, breakfast, watching the nightmare before Christmas, and more.
Home Depot even surprised Theo with a canine friend to add to their skeleton crew.
Abigail says Theos and Benny's friendship is just one testament to his "heart of gold," and she hopes they helped take a heartwarming break from the uninterrupted chaos and heartbreak of 2020.
"I hope it makes people smile and enjoy it," she says. "2020 was so tough for everyone."
