"My daughter, husband, and I all have houses on Animal Crossing Island that I created," she said. "My daughter is not that good at the game and she usually just decorates her own house with stuffed toys and random knickknacks that my husband and I leave. I woke up this past weekend and found every tree on the island was felled, lots Flowers were dug up, garden furniture was moved around and holes were randomly dug everywhere. "
She sat her daughter down and told her to respect the efforts of others.
"Out of anger, I took her switch and said she would get it back at the end of the week," she wrote. "My husband thinks this is unnecessary as it is just a video game, but in all honesty I feel like it was still disrespectful to improve my job even though it is not a tangible thing. Maybe a week was a bit too long, but I think my daughter can learn a lesson about respect from this. "
Reddit users weren't all right on mom's side.
“I can't imagine an adult being angry at their own child because of a video game bug. Grow up, ”wrote one user.
"I mean ... this is a kid who cut down some trees on a fake island that can easily be replanted," said another.
"I can't even believe you have to ask. They put a real punishment on a fantasy," someone commented.
