Monza Rally to hold final round of season for WRC

Monza rally for the final round of the WRC season
The FIA has announced that the 2020 World Rally Championship in Italy will end with the Monza Rally on December 4th and 6th.
The Monza Rally is the eighth round of the 2020 season, which has been held annually as a non-championship event since 1978.
Over the years it has drawn stars from both the rallying and racing worlds, with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi being the most notable parentage - she won the rally seven times.
Hyundai's Dani Sordo and Sebastien Loeb each won the Monza Rally once, while ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica took victory in the 2014 edition.
The WRC will adopt its short format plan for the title winner. In and around the legendary Monza racetrack in the Lombardy region of Italy, only 220 km of time are planned.
In a statement, the FIA said the "majority of the first and last day of action" will take place on the racetrack, while Saturday's middle distance will be on closed public roads.
"In the final round of the championship, there is a great chance that both the drivers and manufacturers' WRC titles will come straight to the wire on Monza's roads," said Jona Siebel, Managing Director of WRC Promoter.
"The WRC prides itself on rewarding the best all-round rally driver in different terrains and conditions. This type of rally is rare in our championship, but it offers an exciting finale for an unpredictable year."
Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of the Automobile Club d'Italia, added: "For the Automobile Club d'Italia it will be another engagement in a season in which we have been the protagonists in all major sporting events.
"Our discussions with WRC Promoter have also resulted in it being viewed as an emergency event for 2021.
"The event at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, the 'Temple of Speed', will be great for the series. It will be an incredible show and a unique experience for car and tire manufacturers, teams, drivers and all other protagonists of a high quality WRC Event. "
Toyota's Elfyn Evans currently leads the WRC Drivers 'Championship by 18 points over teammate Sebastien Ogier, while Toyota also leads the constructors' table.
