The cops got on this guy tough!
You may have heard of the dramatic heist at the Louis Vuitton store in San Francisco by the weekend. This and other shops in Union Square have been robbed by dozens of people carrying all kinds of goods to their waiting cars and then taking off. The police were able to arrest a number of people, including the driver of this Ford Mustang who was being held on camera by a bystander.

No doubt this person thought it was a great idea to bring a Mustang as a getaway car. What they forgot to calculate was their lack of speed on foot before getting to the vehicle. As they jump in, the cops swarm out of the pony car and start breaking the windows with batons. Then a black and white patrol car stops in front, but the driver could still have backed up and pulled a Baby Driver maneuver.
Also, it's worth noting that this looks like an EcoBoost Mustang. If you're looking for a quick getaway, don't go with the turbo four pony. The car was likely stolen as these criminals are usually smart enough not to use their own drive during a robbery. So why not paint a Mustang GT with the Coyote V8?
Even smarter, this person could just do an honest job and not steal. What a concept.
What is really funny is, just before the police show up and arrest the Mustang driver, bystanders catch a man with the camera running through the streets with his arms full of what looks like clothes on. The guy wears two masks, one over his nose and mouth and one directly over his eyes, probably to hide his identity. Hey, it worked on train robbers in the Wild West, didn't it?
Here's the real irony: shoplifting in San Francisco isn't even a crime prosecutors prosecute these days if it drops below a certain dollar amount. There are plenty of videos on the internet of people with garbage bags just clearing shelves in Walgreens and other shops around town and then quietly walking out while the staff stand helpless. Maybe the stuff is too expensive at Louis Vuitton to be "okay" to steal? Or do these people just don't care? Whatever the reason, San Francisco seems to have quite a crime problem these days, so we doubt this will be the last time something like this goes down.
