NASCAR President Says Whoever Put Noose in Bubba Wallace’s Garage Will Be Banned ‘for Life’

NASCAR will pass a lifelong ban to the person responsible for bringing the noose to Bubba Wallace's garage stand on Sunday.
"You will be excluded from this sport for life," NASCAR President Steve Phelps said on Monday during a conference call with reporters. "There's no place for that at all and we won't tolerate it. They won't be here. I don't care who they are, they won't be here." The call went into details, and Phelps explained that it was still very much early in their investigation.
A loop was found in the garage of Wallace's racing team at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday. Both NASCAR and the Alabama District Attorney initiated an investigation into the incident. Phelps said that only a "very small number of people" had access to the stable on Sunday, but warned that it was "too early to determine who was in this area during the incident."

"We have a very small number of people who are in the footprint, only the necessary staff who were there," he said. "We'll check the entire list with the FBI about who had access at that particular time. We also use what is called a subdivision. We'll look at who has that particular area and we'll be able to narrow that down."
Phelps said it was unlikely that there was any security breach. "The safety when getting in and out is very tight," he said. "I can't speculate whether there would have been a violation or not." The Geico 500 race was scheduled for Sunday in Talladega, but the weather postponed the event to Monday. Phelps confirmed that Wallace will have additional security around them.
Earlier this month, Wallace asked NASCAR to ban the Confederate flag at its events. The league complied with this request.
