Natalie Decker details why she has yet to be cleared to race
Natalie Decker shared on social media on Wednesday why she has not been approved for the September 25 race in Las Vegas and has not yet been cleared for the truck series return.
In a video, Decker said she wasn't feeling well before the Las Vegas truck race and went to the Infield Care Center. She said, “I had a very high heart rate and very high blood pressure and they didn't want me to go out in this race and strain my body and get one higher or too high and possibly black out. That's why they didn't clear me up. "
Her Niece Motorsports team couldn't find a driver in Las Vegas to replace them. Kaz Grala was in ninth place for her last weekend in Talladega. The truck series is over this weekend. The series returns on October 17th at Kansas Speedway. Decker hopes to be cleared for this race.
"Why they wouldn't still release me for the next races was because they didn't understand that they are so young and healthy and in good shape, which is why my blood pressure happened to be so high," she said in the video. “So they wanted to do all these scary tests. ... I was very scared because a lot happened, a lot of tests were done, a lot of what-ifs. "
Decker said she hasn't posted on social media lately because of the unknowns with her health.
"I'm back now because we've ruled out all of these scary things," she said on the video. "So that's the good news. The bad news is that I'm still not cleared up. I still have very high blood pressure and there is something in my body, maybe a drug or something that is doing that right now, but it It's very minor. It's not scary. So we'll find out in the next few days, keep my fingers crossed, and then I'll get medical relief to come back and race. "
The 23-year-old Decker has made 11 of 19 starts this year. She missed the race in Pocono on June 28 after being hospitalized in December for complications related to the removal of her gallbladder.
