A Tui flight was scheduled to start around 9:55 p.m. on Saturday evening. from Rhodes, Greece and fly to Bournemouth, England. However, the flight was grounded just after midnight due to the outbound flight to Rhodes being delayed and the crew having reached the maximum allowable working hours.

"Unfortunately, we had to postpone the flight in Rhodes overnight."
A source told Insider that Tui arranged for passengers to stay in the lobby of Rodos Palace, a five-star hotel a 20-minute drive from the airport, due to limited hotel availability.

The airline was offering passengers 180 euros, around $183, if they wanted to find their own accommodation for the night, which they could subsequently reclaim, the source added. Passengers on the flight were entitled to 261 euros in compensation and Tui gave them holiday vouchers, according to the source.
The flight left Rhodes at 2pm the following day. local time and landed in Bournemouth at 5pm. Local time, said Tui.
The incident comes as airlines are struggling to cope with a staff shortage, on top of surging demand for summer travel. Also last month, more than 150 Qantas passengers slept in an airport terminal because their flights were diverted and crew timed out.
