Netflix cancels Jamie Foxx's sitcom about embarrassing his daughter
Jamie Foxx in Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!
Netflix, in its compassionate kindness, has finally granted Dad's desperate, exclamation mark requests to stop embarrassing me! That said, the streaming giant pulled the plug on the single-season sitcom that starred the real-life movie star and certified Oscar winner Jamie Foxx and got back to the roots of television comedy that helped his career . Per Deadline, the series was based on Foxx's own relationship with his daughter Corinne; both Foxxes produced on the series that featured Kyla-Drew as the embarrassed daughter proxy.
Netflix broadcast all eight received episodes of Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! In April 2021. which, as we find out with perverse motivation, are all things like "#YeezysAndShrimp" and "#NipplesOrNuts". Said episodes introduced the world to Brian Dixon, a perfectly relatable cosmetics company owner who happens to look and sound very similar to certified Oscar winner Jamie Foxx. (Not that Foxx limited himself to that single role; he also played a number of single characters with names like Rev. Sweet Tea and Cadillac Calvin.) The series played sitcom king David Alan Grier as Foxx's father, as well as Porscha Coleman, Jonathan Kite and Heather Hemmens.

The news of the cancellation comes during a general curtailment of the Netflix schedule, which also saw shows like Jupiter's Legacy and Grand Army being removed from the books. It also serves as a data point for the streamer's ongoing problems with the family sitcom format; Aside from a few hits like Full House and The Ranch, sitcoms about family life have a fairly short shelf life in service, even when Jamie Foxx throws them on his considerable star power.
