Netflix’s ‘Hill House’ and ‘Bly Manor’ Creator Doubles Down on ‘No Plans’ for Future Seasons

Mike Flanagan, creator and director of Netflix's blockbuster anthology series "Haunting", doubles as there are no concrete plans for a third chapter after "The Haunting of Hill House" and this year's "The Haunting of Bly Manor". When asked on social media when fans can expect a third installment, Flanagan said, "There are no plans for more chapters at the moment."
"Never say never, of course, but right now we're focused on a whole host of other intrepid projects for 2021 and beyond," added Flanagan. "If things change, we will absolutely let everyone know!"

Intrepid Pictures is Flanagan's production company, which completed filming on the new Netflix horror series "Midnight Mass" earlier this month. Instead of going into production in a third "Haunting" chapter, Flanagan and his team worked on the original horror idea "Midnight Mass", which is said to contain seven episodes on Netflix. The series follows the "miraculous events and frightening omens" that break out in an isolated community after the arrival of a mysterious priest.
Flanagan announced to Entertainment Weekly in October, shortly after the debut of "The Haunting of Bly Manor," that a third season is not currently in active development, and that remains the case in light of his December 23rd tweet. While some fans expected a third "Haunting" season after "Midnight Mass" to be on Flanagan's agenda, the filmmaker will have to tackle other horror projects first, such as the Stephen King horror film "Revival".
'Haunting' cast remains as in the dark as fans of season 3. Victoria Pedretti told The Wrap in October that she “knows nothing about future series,” while Oliver Jackson-Cohen added, “I think it is of which, if 'Bly Manor' does well, I'm sure there will be talks with Netflix. But it's all up to Mike and all of the ideas he has up his sleeve. But I think we all definitely would to work with him again if the opportunity arises. But there is really nothing concrete at the moment. "
"Bly Manor" dominated Netflix's top-viewed charts in October, and all signs suggested the series was as much a hit as "The Haunting of Hill House," making a third season a breeze. Flanagan says fans just have to be tight for "Haunting" updates to come.
