Britney Spears' new attorney Mathew Rosengart filed a direct motion on Monday for the removal of her father, Jamie Spears.
The documents submitted by Rosengart stated that Jamie Spears had been paying himself a salary of $ 16,000 a month from Britney's estate since 2009.
Monday's filings marked the first time the Britney Spears legal team officially relocated to remove Jamie Spears from the Conservatory. The documents contained statements of support from Britney's mother Lynne Spears and co-restorer Jodi Montgomery to remove Jamie Spears as restorer.
"Mr. Spears has benefited significantly from his daughter's Conservatory role. By way of illustration, Mr. Spears has been paying $ 16,000 a month from Ms. Spears' estate since at least 2009, $ 2,000 more than he allocated to Ms. Spears has. ”wrote Rosengart in the documents checked by Insider.
"Mr. Spears is paying an additional $ 2,000 a month for office expenses - again from Ms. Spears' estate, ”added Rosengart.
Insider reached out to Jamie Spears' trial attorney Holland & Knight for comment. At a court hearing in June, Vivian Lee Thoreen, a lawyer for Jamie, said after Britney Spears spoke, that he "regrets seeing his daughter suffer so much. [He] loves his daughter and misses her very much."
The documents also claim that Jamie Spears began profiting after he was "temporarily" removed from his conservatory title.
Rosengart also says Jamie Spears "paid several teams of expensive lawyers to represent him and the Conservatory, including in actions that are routinely directed against Ms. Spears' express request."
"In addition to this monthly allowance, Mr. Spears paid himself a percentage of Ms. Spears performance income. He reportedly earned 1.5% of the gross income from Ms. Spears performances and merchandise sales related to her highly successful multi." -year resident in Las Vegas, "wrote Rosengart on the filing.
The petition states that the gross sales of Vegas-based Britney Spears are approx.
"Mr. Spears, who was cut off from this residence, is valued at at least $ 2.1 million. He also received a 2.95% commission on gross earnings from Ms. Spears on her 2011 Femme Fatale tour which grossed him an estimated $ 500,000. While it is common for managers, agents, and other industry professionals to receive a percentage of an artist's income, Mr. Spears is not one of them, "Rosengart wrote.
"He is a restorer, and as a restorer, his role should be more burdened than benefiting from restoration," said Rosengart.
