Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York said the state "did the impossible" by controlling the coronavirus and moving from the epicenter of the disease to one of the leading states where it occurs.
Cuomo made the comments in his last daily meeting. He made comments for 111 days when the pandemic struck the region, starting with the first case discovered on March 1st. New York City was particularly hard hit, but will enter Phase II on Monday, with many but not all pandemics easing restrictions.

"We have done the impossible in the last three months," said Cuomo. “We control the virus better than any country in the country, any nation in the world. I am incredibly proud of what we have all done together and as a community. We reopened the economy and saved lives - because it was never a choice between one or the other. It was always right to do both. "
Cuomo threw a guerrilla dig and called Europe the main source of the virus, not China.
Coronavirus officially killed 24,686 people in New York, although officials acknowledge that the actual number of victims is likely to be much higher.
“I thought about climbing a mountain every day. Mount Everest is full of social challenges, ”said the governor.
New York now has daily deaths in the low double digits.
“We all benefit from working together. We have shown that in the end love wins - no matter how dark the day is, love brings light. I'll take that from the past 111 days, "said Cuomo." If we could accomplish this impossible task of repelling this deadly virus, there would be nothing we could do. And we're getting better. "
In phase II, the outdoor restaurants and bars will be resumed and hairdressing shops, hairdressing salons and offices will be opened. Everyone will be half full with strict testing and social distancing requirements.
“It comprises the largest single piece in our economy. We all agree that this is the right thing, ”said Mayor Bill de Blasio. "It's time to move forward."
