Newman! Seinfeld's Wayne Knight Goes Postal in Anti-Trump Ad — Watch
Hello (again) Newman.
Seinfeld alum Wayne Knight is back in grumpy mailman mode in a new political ad criticizing President Trump's handling of the U.S. Postal Service. In the ad, sponsored by the Political Action Committee PACRONYM, Knight dons the uniform of his famous postman - although the ad carefully describes him as "your friendly local postman" rather than Newman - and rants angrily about the "systematic, deliberate attack" the Trump administration the US Post. "He spits on the name of Trump's Postmaster General Louis DeJoy (" The guy has never leaked a postage ") and grumbles at attempts to slow down the nation's mail:" The only person who can slow the mail down is a postman. "(The ad was first published on EW.com.)
Knight pulls a sturdy turkey leg out of his mailbag and chews it while complaining about the undelivered mail: "If the mail stops, the world stops!" He also assures viewers that their postal ballot will be delivered ... while he brazenly steals cookies from a sealed package. (Veeps David Mandel, who wrote on Seinfeld, wrote the ad and convinced Knight to come aboard.)
Knight made his debut as Newman in season 3 of Seinfeld, with the Postman becoming a recurring main character and Jerry's hated enemy (though he was one of Kramer's closest friends). Knight hasn't rerun the role since Seinfeld went airborne in 1998, but he has since appeared on the small screen in The Exes, Hot in Cleveland, and Torchwood.
