NFL.com speculates Kirk Cousins could be on the move this offseason
At the start of the season, there was speculation that the Vikings might move on from Kirk Cousins after the 2020 season.
The conversation cooled off after the team and cousins began to play better. But now that the Vikings will almost certainly miss the playoffs, the chatter has started again.
NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal went over quarterbacks that might be on the move this off-season, speculating that cousins might be on their way to San Francisco if the 49ers cut ties with Jimmy Garoppolo.
Cousins only have one year of guaranteed money left on his contract and would be easier to trade than Ryan. A deal would actually save the Vikings $ 11 million in space - and at the same time raise a huge quarterback puzzle. Shanahan's long-term love for cousins turns the prospect of his move into something more than idle speculation.
In that case, the Vikings would almost certainly be designing a quarterback early in the 2021 draft, or an opportunity for someone like Carson Wentz or Sam Darnold.
