Nick Jonas Reveals That 'Missing' Wife Priyanka Chopra and Feeling 'Disocnnected' Inspired His New Album
The lack of the love of his life helped Nick Jonas get his creative juices flowing!
On Tuesday, the 28-year-old singer appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and reported on his new single "Spaceman" and the upcoming album of the same name. When asked what inspired his new solo project, Jonas admitted that "missing" his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas helped improve his new music while she was away amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I wrote this record back in July. My wife was in Germany and finished this little film called The Matrix," Jonas told presenter Jimmy Fallon. "And I said, 'You know, first of all I feel very separated from the world and now from myself.' And I was just writing ... within a few days I was like, "Oh, this is a solo album." And a few days later I said, "This is kind of a themed album." "
The voice coach went on to explain that his new music touches on the themes of isolation and loneliness - feelings that many people around the world faced during the ongoing pandemic last year.

"To give this idea that we all had this year ... but this year of being separated from reality, separated from the world, feeling like we are on our own planet and obviously [Chopra Jonas] at that time to miss good, "he added. "And when you reconnect with her and then the main theme of this album, it's all about hope for the future and about having a brighter day ahead of you."
Jonas released "Spaceman" on Thursday as the third track on his next album, which will be released on March 12th. Spaceman consists of 11 new songs including "This Is Heaven", "Sexual" and "Death Do Us Part".

During a recent conversation with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Jonas said that much of his new album is dedicated to his wife 38, who will star in the upcoming Matrix 4 movie.

"She loves it. Most of the songs are pretty much love letters. If I can't articulate how I feel with my words without music, I'll go to the studio," he said. "And I'm grateful to have that because it makes her happy, and that's the most important thing."

Jonas also spoke to Lowe about the concept of the album and its name.
"I think the key for me was to find a way to give this idea a person, to give it a name. So 'Spaceman' came to mind because I thought, 'What's the only thing we do? all felt during that time this time? ' It's just completely separated from the world, "said the Jonas Brothers band member.
"We're so used to looking at a screen instead of human interaction and I think what makes us all encouraged and hopeful is just the idea of knowing that there will be a tomorrow when it's not ours Reality is, and I think all of the work is following this, "he added. "But it seemed like the right thing to start with 'Spaceman' because it's such a strong visual and creative idea then to start the conversation about songs like 'This Is Heaven' which I'm really excited about. It touches some from the things I've done with 'Jealous' and tracks like that, but in a new way and just trying to keep improving and evolving every day, depress me. "
