Nicola Peltz Says Brooklyn Beckham 'Felt Pressure to Please' with His Career: 'Didn't Love It'

It's safe to say that Brooklyn Peltz Beckham felt pressure to have a famous last name.
Tatler magazine's new cover star, Nicola Peltz Beckham, opens up about the career struggles she and her new husband have been going through.
Brooklyn had initially hoped to become a professional footballer like his father, David Beckham, but was dropped from the youth team at London club Arsenal before he turned 16.
Brooklyn - Victoria Beckham's firstborn - also dabbled in fashion photography and modeling before recently appearing on TV to showcase his cooking skills. But Brooklyn's wife says he "felt a lot of pressure to please people with his career and he didn't love it."

During the pandemic, Brooklyn launched Cookin' with Brooklyn, a Facebook Watch show where he shares his adventures in the kitchen. Nicola believes this is his calling. "You can tell, when Brooklyn's in the kitchen, he's in heaven," she told Tatler. She continued: "Since the pandemic, all he's wanted to do is talk in the kitchen, so one day I started filming him. I said, 'This is what you love.'"
Nicola also opened up about Brooklyn's close relationship with her father, revealing that he will always go to her father, a billionaire investment titan, for advice. "Brooklyn gets into very exciting things with his shows and it's really sweet, I watch him call my dad and he's like, 'What do you think about that?' I love watching him learn from my dad," he told the outlet.
Nicola herself also spoke candidly about the ups and downs of her career during the interview. After falling in love with acting at school, Nicola told her parents that she wanted to study acting. Her parents said, "The only way we can support you is if you don't let rejection upset you."

After that, Nicola landed her first role in Blackbird, "an Off-Broadway play about the reunion between a woman and a middle-aged man who sexually assaulted her 15 years earlier when she was 12." She has since starred in Transformers: Age of Extinction and the horror series Bates Motel in 2014.
Though she still loves her acting career, she says rejection is constant. "I've heard 'no' a million times," she said. She continued, "At a young age I put up such a wall to failure that I became sort of a robot where it was like, 'Okay, it's a no, go ahead!' ... It's not easy, but you have to wish the best for the other person who gets the part. I always feel like what should be yours comes to you.
Nicola is currently working on Lola James, an upcoming drama which she wrote, directed and starred in.

Following Nicola and Brooklyn's engagement in July 2020, the couple tied the knot in April during an elegant ceremony in Palm Beach, Fla. In addition to the Beckham and Peltz family, many prominent names made the guest list, including Mel C, Serena and Venus Williams, Jordana Brewster, Gordon Ramsay and Eva Longoria, and Marc Anthony and David Blaine, both of whom performed at the wedding.
For British Vogue's June 2022 digital edition, the couple revealed they picked a page from David Bowie and Iman's wedding book when planning their own ceremony.
"Their wedding was amazing and these pictures are iconic, but the wedding that inspired us the most was Iman and David Bowie's," Peltz told the publication, referring to the musician and model's Italian celebration of the year 1982
The Bates Motel star also revealed that her wedding style was inspired by supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

For the big day, Peltz donned a Valentino haute couture gown, designed by the house's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. Complete with a minimalist and chic silhouette and paired with a stunning lace train and matching lace veil and floral embroidered gloves, the ensemble took a year to complete. She styled her hair in a vintage updo that matched her bridal aesthetic.
“We've been to Rome twice and seen everyone in the studio, they're just so talented. When I first went to Rome, I brought my mom and my brother Brad, who's actually my husband of honor, and then [stylist] Leslie Fremar, who's one of my best friends in the whole world," she told CR Fashion Book about the joint design process. "It's really a beautiful thing to be a part of and very exciting."
