No. 3 Senate Republican John Barrasso vows to make Biden a 'one-half-term president'

No. 3 Republican in the Senate, John Barrasso of Wyoming, told a group of voters that he would make President Joe Biden a "half-time president."
"Mitch McConnell has received a lot of criticism for saying he wants to make sure at some point that Barack Obama was a president for one term," Barrasso said last Thursday at an event organized by the Ripon Society, a centrist Republican think tank that released the remarks on Tuesday .
“I want to make Joe Biden a half-term president. And I want to do that by making sure that they no longer have a house, a Senate or a White House, ”he said.
McConnell, R-Ky., The Senate minority leader, has vowed to block Biden's agenda and sharply criticized the government's policies. McConnell said last month that he is "100 percent" focused on "stopping" Biden's administration.
"We are facing huge challenges from a new administration and a slim majority of Democrats in the House of Representatives and a 50-50 Senate to turn America into a socialist country, and that is what I am 100 percent focused on," he said.
Ahead of the 2010 midterm election, McConnell told the National Journal that “the most important thing” for Republicans at the time is that Obama become “a president for a term,” adding, “I don't want the president to want him to fail changes. "
Obama was re-elected for a second term, but Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives after the 2010 midterm elections and won the Senate for the last two years of Obama's presidency, which denied him confirmation of a candidate for the Supreme Court. The Republicans lost control of the House of Representatives during the Trump administration, and the Democrats narrowly regained the Senate last year.
Barrasso said in his remarks that the Democrats are the "party of socialism" and rejected the democratic agenda as the welfare of the government.
"I'm looking forward to a very successful 2022," he said. "The Republicans want to keep working on economic growth, and the Democrats want to enlarge the government."
He said Biden will "ride" as the party turns left on policing, jobs and climate change policies. Barrasso also suggested that Biden be a stamp for the Senate Majority Leader and House Speaker.
"Joe Biden will never veto a bill," he said. "He will go down in history as the president who never vetoed a bill because he will sign anything Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi put on his desk."
